Google To Discontinue Emergency Location Sharing App

Google finally reveals to kill its emergency location sharing app, Trusted Contacts, in December 2020. However, it has already removed the app from the Google Play Store, which is a thoughtful initiative of the year. The company’s most alarming recommendation to the existing users is to use ineffective Google Map features for tracking the location.

Users Reviews

Users reacted in anger and discussed the issue on various platforms.  They say that Trusted Contacts was a reliable mobile application that helped them find their loved ones easily. In contrast, Google Map features are not reliable, and you only have to rely on its proactively generated location.

Three years ago, Google launched Trusted Contacts and inspired many global users. The app allowed users to add trusted family members and friends from whom help could be achieved at emergency times.

The responsive application has been a massive convenience to the users. The functions were appropriate for the situations where it was necessary to keep track of the family and friends. The users could easily request a status update, and the respondent would reply with its current situation.

Biggest Step

Google’s biggest step to closing down the app’s services came into notice on Sunday, 18th October 2020, via email. The saddest part of the story is that the app is already yanked from Google Play Store.

“More than three years ago, we launched the Trusted Contacts app to help users know where their loved ones are,” Google shared the news and mentioned about the ease given to users in its statement.

Since the inception of this incredible app, Google has integrated its functions to Google Maps. This is its old strategy, which makes connections responsive and accurate.

Perhaps, the current news brings chaos among the users. They are more concerned about monitoring their loved ones, which is absolutely not possible with Google Maps.

Indeed, Google’s Trusted Contacts has only a few users, making it easy for the company to discontinue the features in a few months.

There is only a limited time left until the app completely vanishes from our mobile phones. The decision may bring a vital change in everyone’s life because real-time location sharing will become difficult. In its statement, Google clearly stated that the app will remain visible to the users until December 2020.

Trusted Contacts Page

Although the decision is yet to implement, you can still download the contacts from your Trusted Contacts page before it completely shuts down. Also, try to make yourself convenient with Google Maps. Maybe you are not aware of the features that make tracking and monitoring easy for the users.

Wrapping Up

Well, there is always a better option to look for. Not only this, but you can also wait for some new announcement because Google gives us incredible features every time that makes our life more comfortable and smooth. But, we cannot simply compare the two apps because nothing can beat the power and wonderful results of Trusted Contacts – the only trusted app that we all can vouch for.
